Article marketing remains one of the easiest methods to drive targeted prospects to an online offer. Almost every online marketer has tried article marketing at one stage or another. After all, it is free and brings long-term results.
Yes! Even a "bum" could do article marketing, but there's more to this strategy than what meets the eye. In fact, many marketers FAIL at article marketing, and end up spreading the nonsense that "article marketing is dead".
Truth is... Article marketing is NOT dead.
Chances are, these people have just made the 4 deadliest mistakes in article marketing:
Mistake 1 - Not Producing Quality Articles
If your articles aren't of RELEVANCE and VALUE to your target audience, then you're not giving them enough reason to read to the end of the article, let alone getting them to trust you and become interested in the offers you recommend.
Article marketing, like any type of marketing, is about value exchange. If your prospects don't see value in your articles, they won't return the value by visiting your link.
Remember, the higher quality your articles are, the better chance they will have getting syndicated on other content sites. And that's when your article marketing results really explode!
Mistake 2 - Not Producing Articles Regularly
"Content is King". Fresh, unique content is the King of Kings. You know that products have life cycles. The same applies to article marketing - articles have life cycles! Yes, your articles will give you lasting traffic, but the traffic level will inevitably decrease over time.
Therefore, you need to churn out fresh articles on a regular basis to drive constant streams of traffic to your offer. If you have a large number of articles out there, then even if each of your articles only generates small streams of regular traffic, it will still add up to an enormous sum.
Mistake 3 - Not Creating A Compelling Headline
It doesn't matter if you have the best content in the world, if your articles don't have compelling headlines; they aren't going to get clicked on. Your headline should tell people what your article is about, and at the same time appeal to a sense of CURIOSITY. You must put in some thought creating an effective headline and integrate your keyword in a natural way. The headline is almost as important as the article content itself.
Mistake 4 - Not Creating An Effective Resource Box

BORING!
Seriously, who cares?
Article marketing or marketing in general, should never be about ME, it should be about the readers, the customers. What's in it for your readers? How can your readers benefit by visiting the link in your resource box? These are the questions that you really need to answer.
Don't worry about what some marketers tell you e.g. you have to provide some background info. Truth is... If you've provided value in your article, then you would have already established a level of trust and credibility with your readers and it's much more potent than telling people to read some two-line bio.
Think about your resource box as almost another headline. Always put in a strong call to action and tell your readers WHY they should click on your link.
Good luck in your article marketing efforts!
