Affiliate marketing has been providing a haven for some of the wealthiest work from home business owners for many years. There is no shortage of glowing success stories. Many of them providing graphic details about ordinary people who have lifted themselves out of poverty, and have gone on to create wealth beyond their wildest dreams. The "rags to riches" stories.
Yet there is also another side to this story. We have also seen the statistics that portrays a dismal picture of the failure rate in this same business. Some stating that probably as much as 95% of the people who start working from home never really make any money. So if affiliate marketing is all that and more, how can you be sure if it is right for you?
Whatever business model, opportunities or programs that comes up, there will always be a few warriors who will make the best of the opportunity and go on to create extra-ordinary lives. On the other hand the vast majority will fall by the wayside. Its just the way life goes. You DO NOT have any control over that that. What you have FULL 100% control over is YOU. So, what are you going to do about that?
Success doesn't come by accident, it is a well planned event. You have to make a commitment and stick with it no matter what. 1. A Willingness To Learn & Be Trained - Recognize that you have limitations and weaknesses, and be willing to do something about it. Commit to a learning schedule daily. The good thing about this is that you can do it from the comfort of your home by reading the books, listening to the CD's and watching the videos.
2. A Willingness To Invest Time And Effort - We all have 24 hours each day to do what needs to be done. Schedule your time wisely and stick to it. Don't allow distractions to take over. Understand that you will have to invest time and effort developing new skills and strengthening weak ones. Spend your time wisely.
3. Develop Self Determination - When you start a project make a concerted effort to stick with it UNTIL it's done. By this I don't mean for you to spend all your time trying to get an activity done in one sitting. Sometimes you have to give your mind a break when you get stuck. When this happens, leave it and move on to something else, but always remember to get back to it later.
4. Be Disciplined - I can't stress enough the importance of this principle. Set specific rules and guidelines for your life and your business and make sure you abide by them. Set high standards, but be flexible and enjoy the moment. This is a fundamental part of life and without it you could lose control.
5. Be Optimistic - No matter how bleak your circumstances, something positive is lurking behind. There is a popular saying that goes, "behind every dark cloud there is a silver lining". Look for the opportunities instead of dwelling on the difficulties. Developing this principle WILL make you feel good!
6. Plan Strategically And Consistently - Nothing worthwhile in life can be achieved without planning. Life go through different phases, so you should always be assessing and analyzing your circumstances to make the adjustments required.
7. Take Action Consistently - Above all else, this is crunch time. Only consistent and persistent action will get you to your destination. This is not about working like a hog on your business for one month and taking a break the next month. Reaching your full potential is about taking small steps daily.
To become successful with your affiliate marketing business while working from the comfort of your home you will have to learn new skills like copyrighting, web designing, marketing and advertising, product creation and more... BUT with all of that, start NOW to invest time and effort in learning and incorporating the above principles into your life.
While we're all exposed to these principles daily, most of us don't really spend the time to pay attention to them. The ones who do go on to live extra-ordinary lifestyles that gets the recognition, while the ones that DON'T continue to wallow in mediocrity, lost and forgotten.
